About Compass
Do I have to dial any codes to use Compass?
There are 2 ways in which you can use Compass for your toll calls:
1) direct dial
2) coded access
If you are a direct dial customer you simply pick up your phone and dial the number you wish to call. This and every call will be made using Compass and will be rated per the Compass rate plan you have selected. Our very best rates are reserved for our direct dial customers.
If you are a coded access customer you must dial a 4 digit code, then the number you wish to call. This will direct your call through Compass and will give you access to Compass's Flexidial rates. If you forget to dial the code, your call will be handled by the company that charges you for line rental each month, at their advertised rates. The Compass codes are:
National and national mobile calls: 0548
International calls: 0549
To make a coded access call, first dial the 4 digit code, followed by the area code without the leading zero, then the phone number. For example, to call a number in Wellington, dial 0548 4 123 4567 To make an international call, eg to Sydney, Australia dial 0549 61 2 1234 5678
Is Compass part of Telecom?

Compass’ rates
How can Compass offer such low rates?
We have a nationwide communications network and we keep our overheads low. We offer you rates as low as we can afford because we believe you have the right to pay less for using the telephone. Calling rates within New Zealand continue to fall and we're proud to be bringing you the benefits of competition.
How long do I need to stay with Compass to get the best rates?
We don't believe in locking you into contracts. Our rate plans are available to you whether you choose to stay for one year or ten. Of course, we want you to stay with us indefinitely, but we don't want to try to force you to do so. You keep us on our toes!
Where can I find Compass's rates?
We have a handy online rate finder for you to use, click here.
Compass's rates are very low, does this mean low quality?
No, our call quality is on a par with any other provider's. You just pay less for it.

Compass billing
Will Compass charge me for line rental?
You can choose to switch your line rental to Compass to receive one easy bill each month.
Will Compass charge me for local calls?
Local calls are free but dialing an area code in front of what should be a local call makes it a national call - and we have to charge for those! So please double check that you leave out the area code when making local calls. This might include checking the recall function on your answer phone, any programmed speed dials and - if you have an internet connected computer - that the 'dial area code' check box is left empty in your dial up settings.
Can I receive my bill by email?
Definitely! Just fill out the form below and it shall be done. Your bill will be emailed in PDF format.
Can I view my bill online? How about paying online?
Yes again. We've developed a very smart online viewing tool that lets you look up your latest calls, personalise your call descriptions with the names of the people you have called, view 12 previous bills, see your account balance and pay securely online using your credit card. For more information on this service, click here.

How can I pay my bill?
