Terms and Conditions for Home Line Rental

The following terms apply to Compass Communications Ltd. (Compass) Home Line Rental and apply in addition to Compass’ standard terms and conditions.

By agreeing to transfer your home line(s) to Compass from another service provider, you authorise us to transfer all associated services, which can be transferred to Compass.

Home Line Rental is available only to Compass direct dial tolls customers. If you move your calling to another service provider or cancel your direct dial account, we may immediately terminate your Home Line Rental service.

Home Line Rental is available to residential customers only (ie customers having three lines or less and living at the service address).

Home Line Rental is not available in all areas or to customers who do not currently have home line rental with either Compass or another provider.

Home Line Rental pricing may vary in different geographical areas.

Home Line Installation and Connection
Installation or connection charges may apply to phone line and additional connections. The work required to install a line varies from property to property, as does the associated cost.

Additional phone lines are not available in all areas.

Wiring Maintenance
Wiring maintenance is an optional service. If you are a new Home Line Rental customer, we will provide you with this service unless you tell us otherwise. If you do not receive this service from Telecom, you will not receive this service under Compass Home Line Rental, unless you tell us otherwise. Please note you need to have had this service for 30 days before your fault will be covered.

If you pay the standard wiring maintenance charge, you can report faults during our call centre hours by calling 0800 640 840 free of charge. Providing the wiring has been installed by Telecom, or to Telecom's specification, we will restore service within 24 hours.

If you do not pay the standard wiring maintenance charge and need to report a fault, then we will charge for any fault restoration work carried out on the internal telecommunications wiring of your premises.

Smart Line Features
Compass requires 30 days notice of cancellation of Smart Line Features. This means the usual charges will continue to apply for 30 days after the date you cancel your service, even if it is discontinued within that period.

Smart Line Features do not incur installation charges but availability of these services is subject to the capability of the customer's local exchange. All Smart Line Features require the use of a touch tone phone. Some Smart Line Features cannot be used in conjunction with other Smart Line Features.

Smart Line Feature charges do not include applicable calling charges, which will be charged in addition. The customer who has the service, not the caller, pays any calling charges resulting from call redirections. Smart Line Features may be charged in slightly different periods to line rental and other services.

If you move house, stored information on your Smart Line Features (eg speed dial numbers, messages on Message Mailbox) may be lost.
